REFUGEE AND SETTLEMENT
The UNHCR estimates there are more than 26 million displaced refugees around the world. Children represent a significant percentage of this number. Many of these refugees live in an uncertain situation for years if not decades. Refugees are some of the most vulnerable populations around the world.
Refugee resettlement provides protection and a permanent solution to a small percentage of refugees every year. Resettlement mainly is provided by countries party to the Geneva Convention including Canada.
Besides government-led settlement programs, Canada has a private refugee sponsorship program where certain Canadian organizations and individuals support the resettlement of refugees in Canada. This is a unique and well-respected program around the world and has helped refugees from all corners of the world.
In partnership with other organizations and individuals involved in the refugee sponsorship program, we are a constituent sponsorship group support the resettlement of refugees in Canada. Some of the programs we will sponsor refugees under are the Community Sponsorship Program and the Sponsorship Agreement Holders program.
